NEW BERLIN, Wis. - The Carroll University men's tennis team swept Elmhurst University 9-0 in a College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin dual meet at the Princeton Club on Friday night.
It was the first conference dual of the season for Carroll, which claimed its sixth home-court victory of the season and improved to 9-3 overall.
The Pioneers have won five of their last six matches.
Adrian Gomez won in straight sets at No. 1 singles to lead Carroll, defeating Elmhurst's Ben Cavka 6-1, 6-0.
Daniel Ezcurra at No. 2 (6-1, 6-2),
Andrew LaBelle at No. 3 (6-0, 6-0) and
Ryan LaBelle at No. 4 (6-0, 6-0) each added a straight-set victory.
Gomez and Ezcurra combined for a victory at No. 1 doubles (8-3) and the LaBelle's won at No. 2 doubles (8-0). Carroll's other three victories came by forfeit.
Carroll is scheduled to face North Central College in a CCIW dual meet at Naperville, Ill. on Saturday, April 6 at noon.
