VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. -
Vanessa Uitenbroek finished third in the women's shot put with a distance of 14.42 meters (47-03.75) in the NCAA Division III Indoor National Championships at the Virginia Beach Sports Center on Saturday afternoon.
Uitenbroek, a senior from Kaukauna, Wis. who was making her third consecutive appearance at the indoor nationals, successfully marked on five of six throws in the prestigious competition, accomplishing her longest distance on her memorable third attempt.
The strong, standout individual performance took on added significance as it ensured All-American honors in the indoor shot put for the second consecutive year for Uitenbroek, the three-time defending College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) champion in the event. This marks her fifth All-American performance of her career..
She came into the day seeded third in the nation in the shot put with a CCIW and Carroll indoor school record distance of 14.90 meters (48-10 3/4), established at the CCIW Indoor Championships on Feb. 23, 2024.
It was Uitenbroek's eighth career appearance (indoor and outdoor combined) in the NCAA Division III National Championships.
