NEW BERLIN, Wis. - Carroll's men's tennis team narrowly lost to conference foe Wheaton (IL) Friday evening by a score of 5-4. The Pioneers won two of their six singles matches, while also taking two of three doubles matches on the night.
At the top doubles flight,
Adrian Gomez and
Daniel Ezcurra defeated Wheaton's Cody Ching and Tim Steiner by a score of 8-7.
Ryan LaBelle and
David Eman also teamed up at the third flight for the Pioneers, winning by an identical 8-7 score.
In singles play, Gomez was victorious for the Pios (9-5, 1-2 CCIW) at the top flight, 7-6, 6-2, while Ezcurra won his number two singles match by a score of 6-3, 6-2.
Carroll will be back in action on Sunday when they'll travel to Augustana. That match will begin at Noon in Rock Island, Ill.
