BELOIT, Wis. - The Carroll University women's track and field team placed third in the nine-team Beloit Relays on Saturday.
Vanessa Uitenbroek won the shot put with a fifth-attempt distance of 14.43 meters (47-4), the hammer throw with a third-attempt 51.69 meters (169-7) and finished second in the discus with a fifth-attempt 43.57 meters (142-11) to lead Carroll, which generated 93.5 points.
Uitenbroek's standout individual performance in the shot put took on added significance as it broke the long-standing former school record of 14.37 meters (47-1.75) established by Carroll standout Jenny Prochazka at the NCAA Division III Outdoor National Championships in 2002. She is currently ranked third in NCAA Division III in shot put, fourth in discus and 12th in hammer throw.
Carroll's 4x800 relay team (consisting of Sam Knutilla,
Lucy Beuthin,
Brooke Davies and
Ani Tollerud) added a victory, clocking in with a time of 10 minutes, 29.01 seconds.
Maria Falk was second in shot put with a final attempt distance of 12.68 meters (41-7.25) and fourth in the hammer throw 46.27 meters (151-10).
Grace Tinder added a second-place finish in the pole vault with a height of 3.21 meters (10-6.5).
Other individuals finishing within the top eight were:
Cate Gudaitis, fourth in discus 40.93 (134-3);
Lexi Elegbede-Peer, fourth in 100 (12.80);
Kaitlyn Brucci, fourth in shot put 11.29m (40-3.75);
Katelyn Duber, sixth in 100 hurdles (17.71):
Ashley Wojciechowski, sixth in triple jump 9.7m (31-10) and eighth in 100 hurdles (18.18);
Madi Ullrich, sixth in javelin 28.58m (93-9) and
Brooke Davies, eighth in 400 (1:07.44)
Carroll's 4x100 relay (comprised of
Aimee Koranteng,
Kaitlyn Gregory,
Taylor Olund and Elegbede-Peer) was fourth in 51.43 seconds.
