Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Pios Win Fifth Consecutive Game

MEQUON, Wis. - Carroll's women's lacrosse team defeated Concordia (Wis.) Tuesday afternoon by a score of 15-6. That marks the Pioneers' fifth consecutive win, moving their season record to 9-1, which is the second-best start in program history. The Pios have scored double-digit goals in all nine of their wins this season.

Despite the final result, it was Concordia (4-5) who got on the board first thanks to a Katelyn Cardinale goal just five minutes into the contest. The Pioneers then scored three unanswered goals to end the opening quarter, with Grace Brockman and Rebecca Hallman (twice) doing the honors. Samantha Hurd added another goal for the Pios in the opening minute of the second period, but was quickly answered by a Concordia goal from Eliana Fuchs. Carroll then scored the final five goals of the half, with three coming from Elizabeth Wang and one apiece coming from Abby Stas and Brockman, giving the Pioneers a 9-2 lead at intermission.

The second half featured more scoring for the Pios, as Hallman found the back of the net twice more before Concordia matched her with two goals of their own to cut the deficit to 11-4 in the opening minute of the final period. Hallman then added another goal, while Hurd, Brockman, and Lauren Fricke also scored to give Carroll a 15-4 lead, putting the game out of reach.

Hallman led all players with five goals for the Pioneers, while also adding a pair of assists. Brockman and Wang each scored twice, while Hurd added two goals on the day. Carroll also held the shot advantage on the day, 34-16, while forcing 41 Falcon turnovers. Devon Duym and Sydney Everett each played one half between the pipes, combining for six saves.

Concordia was led by a hat trick of three goals by Cardinale, while Fuchs added a pair of goals. Goal Keeper Cawthray Parks played all 60 minutes in the net for the Falcons, making seven saves.

The Pioneers will be in action again on Saturday when they'll travel to UW-La Crosse for Carroll's final tuneup before beginning conference play next week. Saturday's game will begin at 1 p.m. in La Crosse, Wis.
