BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The sixth-seeded Carroll University women's tennis team was eliminated from the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Tournament at Evergreen Raquet Club on Thursday, falling to third-seeded North Park in the quarterfinals 5-0.
North Park swept the doubles flight and earned two victories in singles to advance to the tournament semifinals.
Alex Ristfeldt and Katarina Carlberg combined for a victory at No. 1 doubles, defeating Carroll's
Maya Gaedtke and
Katherine Trifilio 8-4.
The No. 2 duo of Hanna Zetheus and Carla Cazes defeated Natasha Pupovac and
Aalaiya Jacklin 8-5. The No. 3 tandem of Maddie Starr and Ella Darrow added a victory over
Makayla Counsell and
Erin Horzewski 8-5.
Carla Cazes won in straight sets at No. 4 singles, defeating Carroll's
Madison Ostrander 6-1, 6-2. Starr added a straight-set victory over
Kaitlin Brandl 6-0, 6-1.
Carroll finished the season 8-12 overall.
