Carroll Suffers Series Sweep Against CCIW Leader North Park

WAUKESHA, Wis. - Carroll baseball dropped their third straight game on Sunday afternoon, suffering a three-game sweep to the North Park Vikings. Carroll (15-21, 7-11 CCIW) is currently on the outside looking in on the CCIW tournament standings as the last week of regular-season play holds two crucial games for the Pioneers. North Park (26-10, 14-3) has the opportunity to win the regular season title with a three game series against Illinois Wesleyan.

Dalen Lamberson went 2-for-5 on the day, with a double and a run scored. Nick Angus continued his hot hitting streak in the DH spot, going 2-for-4 with a RBI-double in the first inning. Four other Pioneers tallied hits on a relatively quiet day at the plate for Carroll.

Carroll had the first words of the contest, scoring two runs right away in the first inning. Erik Jaschinski threw four shutout innings to begin the game, keeping momentum in the Pioneers' dugout. Jaschinski dealt all seven of his strikeouts in the first four innings, as Carroll was firing on all cylinders. North Park finally responded in the fifth inning, scoring their first three runs to take the lead. North Park strung together 10 consecutive runs to close the game out as Carroll was unable to bring momentum back.

Carroll used five arms in the contest, including Jaschinski, Noah Hoffman, Owen Ripley, Chayce Schultz, and Andy Buskohl. Jaschinski suffered the loss, his fourth of the season. The releiving unit combined to throw three innings, allowing three earned runs on six hits, while also tallying three strikeouts and walking one batter.

Carroll concludes the 2024 CCIW season with two pivotal road games. The Pioneers first make the trip to Kenosha to take on in-state rival Carthage on Wed, May 1 with postseason seeding implications on the line. First pitch from Augie Schmidt Field will be at 5 p.m.
