MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - Carroll University Senior
Vanessa Uitenbroek finished third in the Discus at Thursday's first day of the NCAA Division-III Outdoor Championships, securing her third consecutive All-American performance in that event. That also marks Uitenbroek's fifth career All-American performance across all events.
A native of Kaukauna, Wis., Uitenbroek's best throw came on her second attempt, which traveled 46.93m (153-11). Uitenbroek finished second amongst CCIW student-athletes, behind only event champion Charlotte Frere, who won the event with a Personal Best throw of 50.27m (164-11).
Carroll's other entry into the Discus, Senior
Cate Gudaitis was attempting to repeat as an All-American in the event, which goes to the top eight individuals. Gudaitis finished 21st with a toss of 37.20m (122-00), which came on her second attempt in the prelims.
Uitenbroek's weekend is not finished, as she will compete in the Shot Put Friday at 4 p.m. ET, going for her third All-American performance in that event. She'll then finish her outstanding season by participating in the Hammer Throw Saturday at 1 p.m. ET. Both days will once again take place in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
