NAPERVILLE, Ill. - In what was one of the final chances for student-athletes to qualify for Nationals, Carroll's men's and women's track & field teams sent six people to Thursday's Carius/Gregory Invite, hosted by North Central College.
One highlight of the unscored meet came in the women's shot put, where
Maria Falk won the event with a distance of 13.71m (44-11.75). Falk also placed sixth in the hammer throw with a mark of 48.99m (160-08).
Cate Gudaitis added an 11th-place throw in the discus (29.73m/97-06).
Carroll's men's team received their best performance from
Jimmy Hinkley, who placed second in the hammer throw with a mark of 57.42m (188-05). In the discus,
Brady Reusser finished fourth with a throw of 46.21m (151-07), while
Will Campbell was 10th (41.77m/137-00). Campbell added a third-place finish in the shot put with a throw of 13.76m (45-01.75).
The Pioneers' next "Last Chance" meet will be Saturday when
Peter Marra will compete in the men's 400 hurdles at St. Francis (Ill.) in Joliet, Ill.
