WAUKESHA, Wis. – Carroll's men's tennis team battled non-conference foe Concordia (Wis.) Wednesday afternoon in what was the inaugural match for "The Golden Racquet," with the Pioneers earning a 6-1 victory.
Carroll (2-1) swept doubles to earn the doubles point. The junior three-doubles team
David Eman and Ryan Labelle dominated James Murphy and Ryan Bilan taking the victory 6-1. Andrew Labelle and
Felix Persson followed up the domination by defeating Hayden Latus and Renan Revite 6-2. One doubles, consisting of
Adrian Gomez and Dani Ezcurra also won 6-4.
In singles play, the Carroll continued that momentum, claiming five of the six singles matches. At one singles, Gomez earned a 6-0, 6-1 win against Sather. Eman also flashed his power, winning 6-1, 6-2 at six singles. Labelle fell down early dropping the first set 4-6 but battled back in the second winning 6-2. He earned the victory 10-4 in the tiebreaker. Jack McCaffrey kept the winning going earning another four singles victory this season, winning 6-2, 6-2 against Bilan.
Carroll now has a break in the action, but will complete their 2024 Fall season at the ITA tournament, which will take place from Sept. 27 to 30 in St. Peter, Minn., hosted by Gustavus Adolphus College.
