Carroll Gets Back on Track by Sweeping WLC Triangular

Carroll Volleyball got back to their winning ways on Friday night, picking up two victories to sweep the WLC Triangular at Wisconsin Lutheran. Carroll (15-3, 0-1 CCIW) went through the triangular unblemished, defeating Wisconsin Lutheran (4-7) and Lake Forest (1-9) in straight sets. 

MATCH 1 VS WISCONSIN LUTHERAN (25-18, 25-22, 25-20) 

In the straight-set Pioneer victory, Carroll beat or tied with WLC in points, kills, aces, blocks, and assists, only being edged by the Warriors in digs.  Carroll posted a .196 attack percentage, led by freshman Bronwyn Rowse who collected 10 kills of her own. Rowse also had six blocks, along with fellow blocker Kylie Wittnebel, who also had six blocks. In the back row, Taylor Raley and Ashley Miller both had two service aces. Payton Depies tallied 19 more assists in the match. Depies also had nine digs, which tied Maggie McGough for the match-lead. 

MATCH 2 VS LAKE FOREST (25-12, 25-17, 26-24) 

In the ninth straight-set victory of the season, the Pioneers ousted the Foresters in points, kills, aces, blocks, assists, and digs. Carroll ended the first set on an 18-4 run, and did not trail the rest of the match. 

Kylie Wittnebel recorded 11 kills and three blocks in the match, as Carroll tallied 31 kills and six blocks in the match. Depies had 10 more assists to bring her career total to 864 as just a sophomore, which ranks her seventh in Carroll history. With nine more digs against Lake Forest, McGough is now 18 shy of 1,000 career digs. Rebekah Andreae had three more stuffs at the net, while Miller tallied three more aces in the nightcap victory. 

Carroll returns to action at noon on Saturday in a nonconference road match against Concordia (WI).
