WAUKESHA, Wis. – Carroll University women's volleyball delivered a dominant performance Wednesday night, earning a 3-0 sweep over Elmhurst (27-25, 26-24, 25-22) at Van Male Fieldhouse. The victory improves Carroll to 12-11 overall and 2-3 in CCIW play, while Elmhurst falls to 7-15 (1-4 CCIW).
The Pioneers showcased resilience in a tightly contested match, winning all three sets by narrow margins. Carroll hit .218 as a team with 49 kills, while limiting Elmhurst to a .181 hitting percentage. Both teams recorded five blocks, but Carroll's efficiency in key moments proved decisive.
Bronwyn Rowse led the attack with 15.5 points and 15 kills, hitting .310 and adding five digs and a block assist. Kylie Wittnebel contributed eight kills on a .375 clip, while Audrey Rosenbaum added seven kills and eight digs. Setter Payton Depies anchored the offense with 31 assists and chipped in 12 digs, while libero Maggie McGough paced the back row with 13 digs and three service aces.
Carroll's serving game was a difference-maker, totaling five aces and maintaining strong side-out percentages: 61% in the first set, 66% in the second, and 73% in the third. The Pioneers also showed balance defensively, recording 59 digs and five team blocks.
Elmhurst was led by Paige Belfield with 11 kills (.357) and Ashley Clardy with 16.5 points, but Carroll's ability to close out late rallies in each set secured the sweep.
The Pioneers return to action this Saturday as they take part in the Edgewood Triangular against Rockford University and the hosts, Edgewood as they look to build on their momentum.
