Pioneers Battle to Scoreless Draw Against Carthage

WAUKESHA, Wis. – Carroll University women's soccer fought through 90 minutes of intense play to earn a 0-0 draw against Carthage on Wednesday night at Schneider Stadium. The result moves the Pioneers to 4-3-4 overall and 1-2-1 in CCIW play, while Carthage stands at 6-4-3 (2-0-1 CCIW).

Carroll controlled much of the match offensively, outshooting the Firebirds 19-8 and holding a slight edge in possession. The Pioneers generated consistent pressure, especially in the first half, when they recorded nine shots and forced four saves from Carthage goalkeeper Ainsley Stallworth. Despite numerous chances, including a penalty save by Carroll's Nevaeh Darby in the 42nd minute, neither side could break through.

Midfielder Carmella Nowak led Carroll's attack with six shots, three on target, while Ellie Pierson added four attempts and Brielle Ingalsbee chipped in four more. Forward Ellie Patrickus contributed three shots, keeping Carthage's defense on its heels throughout the night. Darby anchored the back line with four saves, including a critical stop on a first-half penalty kick, preserving the clean sheet.

The second half saw Carroll continue to press, tallying 10 more shots and earning two late corner kicks. However, Stallworth's eight saves and Carthage's defensive resilience kept the match level. The Firebirds managed eight shots of their own, but Carroll's defense limited quality chances and cleared multiple threats in the closing minutes.

With the draw, Carroll holds strong in the CCIW standings and will look to build on a strong defensive performance as the season progresses. Their next matchup comes this Saturday as they travel to conference foe Millikin.
