This week's "Pios of the Week" for the week ending 11/30 are Senior Natalie Gricius of Women's Basketball for her performances in victories over UChicago and Ripon, and Senior Lamar Smith of Men's Basketball for his performance in a win over MSOE.
Lamar Smith – Men's Basketball
Lamar Smith powered Carroll to a 93-80 road win over MSOE with an all-around performance. The junior forward scored 18 points on 6-of-9 shooting, including a perfect 1-for-1 from three-point range, and added 5-of-6 at the free-throw line. Smith also grabbed 9 rebounds, dished out 3 assists, and contributed defensively with 1 steal and 2 blocks. His ability to finish inside and create second-chance opportunities helped the Pioneers shoot over 53% from the field and secure their third win of the season.
Natalie Gricius – Women's Basketball
Natalie Gricius delivered a dominant week to lead Carroll to two victories. She opened with 22 points on 8-of-11 shooting in a 73-52 win over UChicago, adding 5 rebounds, 1 assist, and 2 steals while hitting 2-of-5 from three. Gricius then erupted for a career-high 39 points in an 86-74 win over Ripon, shooting 15-of-18 from the field, including 2-of-2 from deep, and 7-of-9 at the line, while pulling down 10 rebounds for a double-double. Across the two games, she averaged 30.5 points and 7.5 rebounds, showcasing elite efficiency and leadership as Carroll extended its winning streak.
