Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Carroll Earns Convincing Road Win At Marian (Wis.)

FOND Du LAC, Wis. - Carroll's women's lacrosse team remained undefeated on the young season Wednesday afternoon, building a 10-0 halftime lead, before coasting to a 16-2 win at Marian (Wis.) University. The Pioneers controlled the game from start to finish, out-shooting Marian by a 37-8 margin.

Carroll (2-0) scored their first goal just two and a half minutes into the opening period, when Abby Tubbs found the back of the net unassisted. Grace Brockman would assist on each of the next two goals, which were scored by Samantha Hurd and Elaina Phaneuf, before Brockman scored a goal of her own. Two Elizabeth Wang goals, and another score by Phaneuf gave the Pioneers a 7-0 lead after one quarter of play. Carroll would score three more goals in the second, coming via Tubbs and Sierra Skack, who recorded a pair of goals in the period, putting the Pios up by 10 at the half.

The Pioneers added to that lead on Brockman's second goal of the game in the opening minutes of the second half, before Marian finally got on the board with an unassisted goal by Emma Heide. The Pios answered with a Lauren Fricke goal mid-way through the third quarter, while Hurd scored again in the final minutes to give Carroll a 13-1 lead entering the final quarter, which saw Wang score twice more and Fricke add another to cap the scoring.

Wang led all scorers with four goals, giving her 10 through two games, while adding a pair of assists. Brockman, Skack, Phaneuf, Fricke, Hurd, and Tubbs each finished with two goals. Defensively, Grace Tumilty recorded a game-high 11 ground balls and six caused turnovers. Sydney Everett earned the win at Goal Keeper, recording five saves in 45 minutes of work.

Marian's goals came from Heide and Nicole Stachon. Sabre Goal Keeper Emma Johnson recorded 10 saves, while playing all 60 minutes.

Carroll will try to keep things rolling on Saturday in their 2025 home opener against Aurora University. That game will begin at 1 p.m. from Schneider Stadium in Waukesha, Wis.
