Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Carroll Moves To 3-0 On The Season With Win Against Aurora

WAUKESHA, Wis. - For the third consecutive year, Carroll's women's lacrosse team has won its first three games of the season. The Pioneers defeated Aurora University by a score of 10-4 in Saturday's home opener to improve to 3-0 on the young season.

Carroll wasted no time getting on the board, as Elizabeth Wang continued her hot start to the season with two goals in the game's first six minutes, giving her 12 goals on the year. Samantha Hurd added another goal less than one minute later, before Wang completed the hat trick with her third goal of the day to start the second period. Abby Tubbs also got in the scoring column with her third goal of the season, on an assist by Wang, to give the Pios a 5-0 halftime lead.

Tubbs would score her second goal of the day in the opening minute of the second half, before Aurora finally got on the board mid-way through the third period, cutting Carroll's lead to 6-1. The Pios would get that goal back just 23 seconds later when Rebecca Hallman scored her first of the season. Carroll's offense wasn't done there, as Sierra Skack scored two goals to start the fourth and final period, before Grae Brockman added her fourth of the year. Aurora would score the game's final three goals, but it was not enough to overcome Carroll's early lead.

Carroll held a 24-15 shot advantage in the game, while forcing 26 Aurora turnovers. Grace Tumilty showed why she was named CCIW Defensive Player of the Year for the Pios last season, causing eight turnovers, while tying Teah Rupp for the team lead in ground balls (4). Devon Duym earned the win in goal for the Pios, making eight saves in her 60 minutes of work.

Aurora's Meghan Ginty and Rachel Wickey combined to save nine shots for the Spartans, who had seven caused turnovers on the day.

The Pioneers will try to keep things rolling on Friday when they'll host Concordia (Wis.). That game will be played at Schneider Stadium in Waukesha, Wis.
