Four Pios Record A Hat Trick In Blowout Win Against Concordia (Wis.)

WAUKESHA, Wis. - Carroll's women's lacrosse team continued to fire on all cylinders Friday night, defeating Concordia (Wis.) 19-2 to remain undefeated on the young season. Six different Pioneers scored a goal in the game, including four players with at least three, as Carroll improved to 4-0 on the year for the second consecutive season.

The Pios dominated the game from the opening whistle, out-shooting Concordia (1-3) by a 34-15 margin. Carroll also forced 21 Concordia turnovers, while winning 18 draw controls, to Concordia's seven.

Carroll wasted no time, scoring just 31 seconds into the game on Elizabeth Wang's 14th goal of the season on an assist from Elaina Phaneuf. Wang would add another goal less than a minute later, before Grace Brockman got into the action with her fifth goal of the season, putting the Pios up 3-0 just three and a half minutes into the contest. Abby Tubbs and Lauren Fricke would also get into the scoring action in the opening quarter, before Wang scored again in the final minutes of the period to give Carroll a 6-0 lead entering the second. They would continue to turn it on before halftime, as Tubbs, Brockman, and Rebecca Hallman each scored to give Carroll a 9-1 halftime lead.

After the break, Samantha Hurd scored her fourth goal of the season in the opening minute of the third period. Wang and Fricke would then each score once more, before Hurd added a second goal to make the score 13-1. Brockman and Fricke would each score again later in the third, and Wang, Fricke, and two more Hallman goals would cap the scoring for the Pios.

Wang finished with a game-high five goals, while adding two assists, leaving the sophomore just four goals shy of 100 for her career. Fricke added four goals, while Brockman and Hallman each completed a hat trick with three goals apiece. Hurd and Tubbs each finished with two goals on the night. Carroll Goal Keepers Devon Duym, Sydney Everett, and Hannah McKenna combined to make eight saves.

Concordia's goals came from Emily Robertson and Katelyn Cardinale. Parks Cawthray played 57 minutes in goal for the Falcons, making 10 saves on the night.

Carroll will try to keep their momentum going, as they have scored in double digits in each game this season. They will be in action again Sunday against UW-River Falls. That game will begin at 1 p.m. from Schneider Stadium in Waukesha, Wis.
