Gricius And Rangel Earn D3hoops All-Region Honors

D3hoops.com released its 24th annual All-Region team Tuesday, with two Carroll women's basketball players earning the distinction. Senior Guard Olivia Rangel was named First Team All-Region, while Junior Forward Natalie Gricius landed on the Second Team. That duo finished first and second in scoring, respectively, in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW), while helping the Pioneers advance to the CCIW Tournament Championship Game for the second consecutive season with their fourth consecutive season of at least 17 victories.

Also named Region 8 Player of the Year, Rangel is making her third career All-Region appearance, and second consecutive on the First Team. Named CCIW Player of the Year, Rangel is a four-time First Team All-Conference performer, including the last two as a unanimous selection. A finalist for the 2025 Jostens Trophy, Rangel finished her senior year ranking 35th in Division-III in scoring average with a conference-best 18.7 points per game. She also led the CCIW in assists per game (4.7) and Assist-to-turnover ratio (1.51), which rank 28th and 80th, respectively, in D-III. A two-time All-America selection, and Preseason All-American heading into this year, Rangel ranks second in the conference and 32nd in the country, in steals per game (2.96), while also ranking fourth in the league and 94th in D-III for field goal percentage (.468).

Earlier this season, Rangel broke Carroll's career record for both assists and steals, while also shattering the school's single season steals record. She finishes her career ranking fourth in program history for career points (1,653).

This marks Gricius' second consecutive All-Region nod, after also earning Second Team honors last season. Originally from Oconomowoc, Wis., Gricius finished the season ranking second in the conference in scoring with a career-best 18.2 points per game, which is 42nd among all Division-III players, and recently became the 18th player in program history to surpass 1,000 career points. A two-time All-Conference selection, including a unanimous First Team selection this year, Gricius also ranks ninth in the CCIW with a team-best 6.1 rebounds per game, third in field goal percentage (.504 - 41st in D-III), fourth in free throw percentage (.817 - 66th in D-III).), and 10th in 3-pointers made per game (1.3), in addition to shooting 35 percent from behind the arc.
