WAUKESHA, Wis. - Carroll men's lacrosse returned to the friendly confines of Schneider Stadium with a matchup against Northland College on Saturday afternoon, fending off the Lumberjacks by a score of 11-6. Carroll's 68 shot attempts is tied for the second-most attempts in a single game in program history.
Northland (0-4) was the first team on the board, scoring a quick goal less than 40 seconds into the game. Carroll (5-3) immediately followed with a Nick White goal from Brady Conwell less than 60 seconds later. Ethan Phillips recorded a hat trick in the first half and Carroll outscored Northland 4-1 in the second period to go into the break with a 6-2 advantage.
The first half gap would increase by one in the third period as goals from Jake Kopocis, Conwell, and Ethan Phillips helped the Pios outscore Northland 3-2. It was a defensive battle to close the game out, as Carroll took 12 shots to Northland's seven, and both teams found the back of the net only twice in the fourth quarter.
Carroll Goal Keeper Jake Gehl played just over 50 minutes between the pipes, earning the victory while Turner Postulka closed out the game allowing one goal and making two saves. Northland was backed by Elijah Clark, who made 27 saves for the Lumberjacks, while playing the entire game.
The Pioneers will get a couple weeks of much earned rest before returning to action on Monday, April 7, where they will host Concordia University (Wis.). Game time is still TBA.
