Pios Get Back on Track at Home

WAUKESHA, Wis. - Carroll men's lacrosse continued non-conference play with another in-state matchup on Saturday afternoon, defeating Edgewood College by a score of 8-7. With the victory, Carroll improved to 4-1 on the season, which is the best five-game start in program history. Carroll held a slight 43-39 advantage in shot attempts. 

  
Brady Conwell recorded a hat trick in the half and Ethan Phillips scored his eighth and ninth goals of the season, but Edgewood (1-3) kept the game within arm's reach, as the two teams went in the locker room with a 6-4 slight Pio advantage. 

The second half was much like the first, as the two teams fought tooth and nail and traded one goal each in the third period. Brady Mollsen recorded his second goal of the game with 2:36 remaining. Edgewood responded with two unanswered goals in the fourth quarter to put the game in a 7-7 deadlock. With 3:47 remaining, Jake Kopocis fired an unassisted shot to the back of the net, registering his second goal of the season and lifting the Pios to victory as the defense held to close the game victorious. 

 
Carroll Goal Keeper Jake Gehl played all 60 minutes between the pipes, saving 12 shots and securing the victory . His counterpart, Nick Krus, made three saves for Edgewood and seceded the defeat, while Logan Searles closed the game, playing the final 33 minutes and making six saves. 
 
The Pioneers will take a spring break trip to Indiana, where they will play two games, beginning with Trine University in Angola, Ind. At 7 p.m. (ET) on Wednesday, March 12.
