Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Pioneers Fall in Final Nonconference Game of the Season

WAUKESHA, Wis. - For the second time in three days, Carroll men's lacrosse returned to the friendly confines of Schneider Stadium with a nonconference matchup against Benedictine University on Wednesday night, getting bested by the Eagles by a score of 15-8 for their fourth defeat in the last five contests. Benedictine nearly doubled the Pios' looks at goal with 50 shots to Carroll's 29.

Carroll (5-5) won the first quarter, with Brady Conwell scoring two goals, and Luke Bridges and Declan McMahon chipped in one goal apiece to give the Pios a 4-2 lead after one. The Eagles came all the way back and then some in the next period, rattling off four unanswered goals in the next period to claim a 6-4 lead. Brady Mollsen found the back of the net for the 12th time this season to pull within one, but Benedictine responded with one more to send the two teams in the locker rooms with a 7-5 Carroll deficit.

Benedictine built their lead over the Pioneers in the third quarter, outscoring Carroll 6-2 to give them a 13-7 lead heading into the final frame. Zachary Szuba brought Carroll one goal closer with his sixth goal of the season midway through the fourth, but that would be all the closer the Pioneers could get, as Benedictine closed the game out with a 15-8 defeat of Carroll.

Carroll Goal Keeper Jake Gehl earned the start, making a season-high 20 saves in 57 minutes in the goal. Jonas Malmanger closed the game out, making two saves in the final three minutes Benedictine was backed by Colin Doyle, who made five saves for the Eagles.

The Pioneers will enter conference play on Saturday, April 12 where they will host North Central College. That game will begin at 4 p.m. from Schneider Stadium.
