WAUKESHA, Wis. - Carroll men's lacrosse opened CCIW competition by hosting North Central College on Saturday evening, getting bested by the Cardinal 14-2. North Central nearly doubled Carroll's looks at goal, taking 52 shots to the Pioneers' 29.
After a quiet first five minutes, North Central (7-3, 1-1 CCIW) scored the first goal of the game. That lead would quickly grow as the Cardinals found the back of the net three more times over the next three minutes. Declan McMahon brought the first spark for Carroll (5-6, 0-1 CCIW), scoring his seventh goal of the season off the assist form Brady Conwell.
From there, North Central responded with 10 unanswered goals over the next two-and-a-half quarters as their lead grew to 14-1. Brady Conwell would be the lone player to score after that last Cardinal goal, scoring his 16th of the season with just over nine minutes remaining.
Carroll Goal Keeper Jake Gehl earned the start, making 14 saves in a complete game between the pipes. Three different goalies took the net for North Central, with Aidan Murphy earning the victory while making four saves.
The Pioneers will continue conference play on Wednesday, April 16 where they will head to Kenosha, WI to take on in-state rival Carthage College. That game is slated for 7 p.m.
