Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Carroll Celebrates Senior Day With Dominating Victory

WAUKESHA, Wis. - Carroll's women's lacrosse team avenged last year's loss to Illinois Wesleyan Saturday afternoon, defeating the Titans in convincing fashion by a score of 17-6, as the Pioneers celebrated their annual Senior Day. Carroll also out-shot Illinois Wesleyan by a 41-15 margin, with 29 of the Pios' shots coming on goal.

The Pioneers (8-3, 2-0 CCIW) scored early and often in this one, as Elizabeth Wang scored her team-high 33rd goal of the season just one minute and 15 seconds into the contest. Senior Grace Brockman added her first of a career-high five goals just three minutes later, while Abby Tubbs also scored to make the score 3-0. Brockman and Wang would each score three more times in the opening quarter to give the Pios a 9-1 lead entering the second. Wang scored two more goals in that second period, while Lauren Fricke also found the back of the net for the Pioneers, giving them a 12-3 halftime lead.

Fricke, Brockman, and Wang would each score in the third, as Carroll kept Illinois Wesleyan (6-7, 1-1 CCIW) at bay, while Fricke added another goal for a hat trick in the fourth, in addition to a goal by Rebecca Hallman, as the Pios coasted to the victory thanks to building that early lead.

Wang finished the game with a career-high seven goals, while adding three assists for a total of 10 points, which is just one point shy of Carroll's single game record. Brockman also scored a career-high with five goals, while Fricke added three. Abby Tubbs finished with two assists in addition to her one goal. Devon Duym started in goal and played the first 45 minutes, making four saves.

Illinois Wesleyan was led by Mia Fiandacas three goals, while Avery Setzler scored twice, and Carleigh Fountain scored the other. Titan Goal Keeper Lizzie Rymarcsuk played all 60 minutes, recording 16 saves.

Carroll will be in action again on Wednesday when they'll host Elmhurst University. That game will begin at 7 p.m. from Schneider Stadium in Waukesha, Wis.
