FINAL RESULTS
WAUWAUTOSA, Wis. - Carroll's men's and women's track & field teams competed Thursday afternoon in the nearby Green and White Invitational, hosted by Wisconsin Lutheran. The unscored meet saw 11 Pios earn a top-three finish, with the men's and women's field events having the most success.
The women were led by senior
Vanessa Uitenbroek, who won two separate events, placing first in both the discus (44.92m/147-04) and hammer throw (51.66m/169-06). She also took second place in the shot put with a toss of 13.62m/44-08.25. Uitenbroek now ranks 12th in Division-III in the shot put and 14th in the hammer, while also ranking eighth in the discus. Sophomore
Caroline Plasil wasn't far behind Uitenbroek in the hammer, finishing third with a distance of 44.39m/145-08). Freshman
Clare Whitney also had a good showing, placing third in the high jump (1.53m/5-00.25), while adding a fifth-place finish in the long jump. Fellow freshman
Bella Backus added a second-place finish in the pole vault (3-00m/9-10.00), while
Katelyn Duber finished second in the triple jump (10.40m/34-01.50).
On the men's side, the Pioneers were led by the throwers, as senior
Jimmy Hinkley and junior
Brady Reusser each won an event. Hinkley placed first in the hammer (57.85m/189-09), where he ranks 13th in all of D-III this season, while Reusser was first in the shot put (13.39m/43-11.25). Reusser also earned a second-place finish in the discus (45-43m/149-00).
Jared Kniola also had a high finish, taking second place in the 110 hurdles with a time of 16.26, which was just 0.34 seconds shy of the winning time.
The Pioneers will be back in action on April 26 when they'll travel to DePere, Wis. to take part in a meet at St. Norbert College.
