MILWAUKEE, Wis. - Carroll's men's and women's track & field teams participated in the Annual Wisconsin Private College Championships on Saturday, with this year's event hosted by Wisconsin Lutheran College. The women's team finished in sixth place with 27 points earned while the men finished in eighth place with 25 points in the meet.
The women's side was highlighted by multiple top-5 finishes, including
Hana Smith placing fourth in the 400m Dash with a time of 1:01.75.
Tirzah Losos placed fifth in the 400m Hurdles, crossing the line in 1:13.13. The 4x400 relay team of Smith,
Taylor Olund,
Rianna Schultz, and
Rebekah Buboltz claimed third in the event, while
Katelyn Duber took fifth in the Triple Jump with a distance of 34-00.
The men's events were highlighted four top-five finishes, including a second place finish from
Ethan Zilisch in the long jump, finishing with a distance of 6.53m.
Jared Kniola had a strong afternoon in hurdle events, placing third in the 110m Hurdles with a time of 16.38 and taking fifth in 400m Hurdles.
Ethan Weber placed fifth in the 400m Dash, crossing the line in 52.12 seconds.
While the majority of the team competed in the Private College Championships, Carroll took several throwers to Rock Island, IL to compete in the Viking Olympics, hosted by Augusana College.
In the women's shot put, seniors
Maria Falk and
Vanessa Uitenbroek took one-two, with Falk tossing 13.83m to take the event. Uitenbroek also also placed second in the Hammer toss with a distance of 50.87m and third in the discus event.
Jimmy Hinkley placed second overall (first affiliated) in the men's Hammer Toss, with a distance of 55.94m to highlight the men's side.
The Pios will compete at the UW-oshkosh Titan Invitational, a two day event beginning on Friday April 11.
