NORTHBROOK, Ill. — Allstate and the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Tuesday morning, announced a record-breaking 197 nominees for the 2025 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team®, which includes Carroll Senior Will Campbell, while marking the most nominees in the award's 34-year history. College football student-athletes and head coaches from all levels of the sport are recognized for their commitment to community service and leadership beyond the gridiron.
"I've been a part of this team, and these players aren't just showing up, they're standing out," said Sam Acho, ESPN analyst, former NFL linebacker, author and 2010 Good Works Team member and Allstate Wuerffel Trophy recipient. "Their commitment to service creates lasting change and inspires the next generation."
A linebacker from Kaukauna, Wis., Campbell earned the distinction in large part due to his community service and involvement. Campbell is a member of Carroll's Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA), while also competing on the Pios' track & field team. He completed 24 hours of service teaching confirmation classes, which helped him total 48 hours of community service at St. Mary's church. Campbell also has accrued 30 hours of on-campus bible study and event planning at Carroll.
"Will is a great football player and an even better person, and we are very proud of his accomplishments and servant leadership," Carroll Head Football Coach Mike Budziszewski said. "His work on the field, in the classroom and in our community embodies what it means to be a Pioneer."
Campbell has graduated in three years with a 4.0 Grade Point Average, earning his undergraduate degree in Management and Leadership. He is currently enrolled in Carroll's graduate school, and will be competing for the Pioneers' football team in his final year of eligibility this Fall. Campbell also is a published author, with his first book 'The Blackwood House' available on Amazon.
On the gridiron, Campbell has collected many accolades, including the CCIW First-Year Student-Athlete of the Year award as a freshman in 2022. That season also saw him earn Second Team All-Region honors, marking the first and only time a freshman has accomplished that feat in program history. A three-time All-Conference selection, Campbell is also an Academic All-Conference and Academic All-District performer.
