WAUKESHA, Wis. – Carroll Men's Tennis took two of three matches against regional opponents, with their sights on the upcoming ITA Tournament.
Edgewood
In doubles, the Pioneers dropped all three doubles matches with a split-squad group of athletes. At two doubles,
Nathan Buntrock and
Brayden Richardson fell 2-5 but came back to get to a tiebreaker. Unfortunately, they fell 3-7 in the set tiebreaker. Similarly, the freshmen duo of
Elliot Radosevich and
Weston Harris lost in a tiebreaker 6-7 (4-7).
Singles would tell a different story with the Pioneers winning in all 6 matches. Notably,
David Eman won 6-1, 6-4 in three singles.
Layton Carls won 6-3, 6-2 at five singles, and
Brayden Richardson won 6-4, 6-2 at four singles.
UW-Lacrosse
Starting with doubles, the Pioneers dropped two of the three matches, with the freshmen duo of Jay Kubota and Ulrik Gellein winning 7-5 at the one doubles position.
Pioneers would fight but lose five of the six singles matches against the Eagles of UW-Lacrosse. Ulrik Gellein won in a dog fight against senior Luke Hinchcliffe 3-6, 6-2, 10-5 at three singles.
Andrew LaBelle lost in another battle at one singles 3-6 6-2 3-10.
Ripon
Pioneers would get back on track, sweeping doubles against Ripon.
Nate Christensen and
Ryan LaBelle, both hailing from Mukwonago, Wisconsin, would be victorious 6-1 at one doubles.
Brayden Richardson and
Nathan Buntrock would swiftly win 6-0 at two doubles. Freshmen
Tyler Sanderfoot and
Lloyd Wilson would earn their first collegiate wins with a 6-2 victory at three.
Carroll would keep the winning going in singles.
Andrew LaBelle won 6-1, 6-1 at one singles. Nate Christenesen would earn his first singles win of his collegiate career, 6-0, 6-1.
Layton Carls was perfect at three singles, winning 6-0, 6-0.
Talan Schmitz, a Waukesha native, would also earn his first collegiate victory 6-1, 6-1 at five singles.
Carroll is now 3-1 on the season. The Pios will be back in action in St. Peter, Minnesota, at the ITA Midwest Regional Tournament September 26-29th, where they will look to earn a National Qualifier.
