Carroll Men's Tennis Wraps Up Fall Season with Success at ITA's

SAINT PETER, Min. – Carroll men's tennis competed in the ITA National Qualifier this past weekend, and had success from several players of the program.

Seeded 17th in the tournament, Senior Andrew LaBelle from Mukwonago made an outstanding run in the ITA singles tournament. His first matchup was against UW-Stevens Point's Dawson Froemming; LaBelle would win 6-2, 6-4. Next, he faced Luke Fridinger from Gustavus Adolphus College. Although Fridinger was seeded 9th, LaBelle completed the upset 7-5, 6-1. Next, Andrew would face the five-seed from Grinnell. Despite his best efforts, LaBelle would fall 7-5, 5-7, 7-10.

Although Carroll's main draw doubles did not go as planned, they found success in the back draws in doubles. Ryan LaBelle and Jay Kubota would make it to the finals of the back draw, defeating Cornell and Macalester along the way. They would ultimately fall to Luther, 4-8. David Eman and Ulrik Gellein would make it to the semifinals, besting Hamline and St. Olaf, but would also fall to Luther.

This tournament wrapped up Carroll Men's Tennis's fall season. They finish with a 3-1 record as they head to the spring.  The Pioneers will be back in action on January 24th against UW-Whitewater in Lake Geneva.
