WHEATON, Ill. - The Carroll University men's cross country team turned in a solid performance at the Gill Dodds Invitational, hosted by Wheaton College at St. James Park on Saturday, September 20. The Pioneers placed ninth overall in a competitive 20-team field, finishing with a team score of 276 and a total time of 2:20:35.80 for the 8k race.
Senior Ethan Weber led the way for Carroll, crossing the line in 26:57.40 to place 34th overall. He was followed by Julian Bica Harrison (28:04.60), Sam Daley (28:09.40), Cameron Lotspeich (28:32.50), and Bailey Olson (28:51.90), who rounded out the scoring five. Luke Adams (29:21.10) and Donovan Menningen (29:46.30) also competed and displaced for the Pioneers.
Carroll averaged 28:07 per runner, competing well against nationally ranked squads including meet champion University of Chicago, which dominated with a team score of 20 and an average time of 25:14.
The race featured over 250 runners from across the Midwest, providing valuable experience for Carroll's young roster. The Pioneers will look to build on this performance as they continue their fall campaign, as the race next at the Blue-Gold Invite in Colfax, Wis. on October 3rd at 4:15pm.
