KENOSHA, Wis. – Carroll gets their revenge on the Firebirds, who knocked them out of the CCIW tournament last year, with a 4-3 win on the road. The match was tightly contested from start to finish, with momentum swinging back and forth before the Pioneers ultimately sealed the victory with clutch singles performances.

In doubles, the Freshman-Senior duo of Megan Trifilio and Makayla Counsell won 6-2 in the three doubles position, showing strong communication and aggressive net play. Despite their win, Carroll dropped the doubles point after falling short in the other two matches, putting them behind 0-1 heading into singles.

Carroll had their work cut out for them in singles, but they rose to the occasion. Katherine Trifilio won 6-4, 6-4 at two singles, grinding out long rallies and staying composed under pressure. Megan Trifilio followed with a dominant 6-1, 6-3 win against Greta Peterson at three singles, using consistent baseline play to control the tempo. Senior Makayla Counsell earned another win at five singles 6-4, 6-0, delivering a confident performance that gave Carroll a crucial point. Finally, Erin Horzewski clinched the match with a 6-4, 6-2 win at six singles, showing poise and determination to close out the team victory. Pioneers claimed their first CCIW victory of the season.

Pioneers improve to 2-1 overall and 1-1 in conference play. They will be back in action on Saturday, September 12th, in a non-conference duel against UW-LaCrosse, looking to build on their momentum and continue their strong start to the fall campaign.
