#20 Carroll Controls Early, Cruises Past North Park

WAUKESHA, Wis. — #20 Carroll women's basketball delivered a complete performance Wednesday night, using a dominant first half and a decisive third-quarter surge to roll past North Park 79–63 inside Van Male Fieldhouse.

Carroll set the tone early with a crisp offensive start, taking a 25–17 lead after the first quarter behind efficient three-point shooting and strong second-chance production. The Pioneers carried that momentum into the second frame, outscoring the Vikings 23–16 to build a 48–33 halftime advantage.

The Pioneers continued to pour it on out of the break, using an 8–2 spurt to stretch the margin to as high as 24. Carroll shot 53.3% in the third quarter and knocked down four threes in the period, pushing the lead to 69–47 entering the fourth. North Park trimmed the deficit late, but the Pioneers remained firmly in control throughout.

Emilie Wizner led Carroll with 19 points, including four three-pointers, while adding five assists. Natalie Gricius added 21 points on 8-of-13 shooting, and Anna Nielsen posted 11 points and seven rebounds, anchoring the interior. Ryann Wendt added 10 points and 10 rebounds, recording a double-double, and Julia Lokker chipped in 13 points with three made threes.

Carroll shot 30-of-64 (47%) from the field, 11-of-31 (35%) from three, and held a 36–25 rebounding advantage. The Pioneers dominated the second-chance column 25–4 and added 9 fast-break points, turning key defensive stops into momentum-swinging offense.

North Park (5–12, 1–7 CCIW) was led by Aliyah Hershberger with 14 points and Caroline Long with 10.

With the win, Carroll improves to 13–4 overall and 7–1 in the CCIW, remaining unbeaten at home and carrying strong momentum into the heart of conference play, as host #13 Illinois Wesleyan this Saturday at 2pm in a clash of the best of the CCIW..
