WAUKESHA, Wis - Carroll came up just short in a back-and-forth battle with #13 Illinois Wesleyan on Saturday evening, falling 60–58 at Van Male Fieldhouse. The game featured 12 ties and multiple momentum swings, with both teams holding leads of at least seven in a tightly contested matchup.
The Pioneers shot 42 percent from the field and held a 30–24 edge in paint scoring, while also converting 15 fast-break points. Michael McNabb led Carroll with 19 points on 8-of-14 shooting and added seven rebounds. Mason Funk added 17 points with three threes, and Jackson Niego finished with seven points and four assists. Connor Williams provided a spark off the bench with eight points in 11 minutes.
Carroll entered halftime up 26–25 after a defensive first half, then built a 39–32 lead early in the second. The Titans responded with a decisive 12-0 run to reclaim the edge. McNabb's deep three pulled Carroll within one at 59–58 with just over a minute left, but IWU split free throws and the Pioneers' final possession came up empty as a contested three at the horn missed.
Noah Cleveland powered IWU with 17 points and 13 rebounds, while Mason Funk scored 17 and hit key second-half shots.
With the loss, Carroll moves to 8–10 overall and 3–6 in CCIW play. They will look to rebound as Wednesday as they travel to North Park with tip scheduled for 7pm.
