Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

#16 Carroll Rolls by Wheaton

WAUKESHA, Wis. - Carroll women's basketball continued its dominant run through CCIW play on Saturday afternoon, rolling past Wheaton 81–56 behind an explosive offensive showing and a stifling defensive effort inside Van Male Fieldhouse.

The Pioneers set the tone early, firing their way to a 25–16 first-quarter lead behind five made threes and 56% shooting in the opening frame. Carroll maintained complete control in the second period, shooting 64% from the floor to take a 45–29 advantage at halftime.

Wheaton attempted to cut into the deficit in the third, but Carroll responded immediately, using a 20-8 quarter to break the game open and push the margin past 30. The Pioneers led by as many as 33 points in the second half before cruising to the wire-to-wire victory.

Natalie Gricius led the way with 22 points on 9–12 shooting, adding four rebounds and three assists in another efficient outing. Julia Lokker provided a huge spark with 22 points off the bench, knocking down four threes, while Emelie Wizner added 14 points, including four triples — with her third make of the day officially breaking the Carroll all-time three-point record (177).

Ryann Wendt was steady on both ends, contributing 6 points, 9 rebounds, and 5 assists, and Anna Nielsen chipped in 10 points and 5 boards.

Carroll shot 50% from the floor and 46% from three, while holding Wheaton to 35% overall and just 7-of-29 from deep. The Pioneers controlled the glass 39–32, scored 17 second-chance points, and forced 15 turnovers on the afternoon.

With the win, Carroll improves to 16–4 overall and 10–1 in the CCIW, remaining firmly in the mix at the top of the conference standings.

The Pioneers return to action next week as they travel to Elmhurst, looking to extend their strong momentum deeper into the final stretch of the regular season.
