Carroll Holds Off Late Elmhurst Rally

WAUKESHA, Wis. - Carroll held off a furious fourth-quarter rally to secure an 88–83 victory over Elmhurst in a high-scoring CCIW matchup at Van Male Fieldhouse. The Pioneers led by as many as 30 points in the third quarter and used balanced scoring and strong bench production to notch their ninth win of the season.

Carroll jumped out to an 18–7 lead after the first quarter and extended the margin to 45–22 at halftime, fueled by efficient shooting and a 19-point first half from Natalie Gricius. The Pioneers shot 64.7% from the field in the second quarter and finished the night at 47.2% overall, including 9-of-19 from three-point range.

Elmhurst mounted a comeback in the fourth, scoring 37 points and trimming the deficit to just five in the final seconds. Ella Conyers hit five threes and scored 20 points off the bench to spark the Bluejays' late surge, but Carroll held on behind clutch free throws from Julia Lokker and key baskets from Gricius.

Gricius led Carroll with 19 points and 10 rebounds, while Lokker added 21 points, five assists, and three steals. Kacy Kratz chipped in 12 points and five rebounds, and Emilie Wizner contributed 13 points and four assists. The Pioneers' bench outscored Elmhurst's reserves 47–26, providing a crucial lift.

Carroll dominated the paint with 46 points inside and converted 16 second-chance opportunities. The Pioneers also forced 17 turnovers, turning them into 16 points, and matched Elmhurst with 16 fast-break points.

With the win, Carroll improves to 9–4 overall and 3–1 in conference play. The Pioneers will look to build on their momentum as they continue CCIW this Saturday as they host Millikin at 2pm back at Van Male Fieldhouse.
