Carroll Impresses Again, Wins Women's Side, 2nd on Men's

RIPON, Wis. – The Carroll University men's and women's track and field teams delivered a strong showing at Saturday's multi-team meet, with the men finishing second and the women capturing first place in the team standings.

On the men's side, Carroll totaled 97 points, finishing runner-up behind MSOE (208). Concordia Wisconsin (75), Ripon (74), and St. Norbert (60) rounded out the top five. The Carroll women edged the field with 108 points, narrowly defeating St. Norbert (107.5) and Viterbo (107) in a tightly contested team race. Concordia Wisconsin (87.5) and MSOE (79) completed the top five.


SPRINTS & HURDLES

Carroll's sprinters accounted for significant early points across both programs.

Freshman Brian Smith highlighted the men's sprints with a second-place finish in the 60 meters (7.01, PR) and followed with a dominant win in the 200 meters (22.10, PR). Denim Riley added points in both events, placing fifth in the 60 and fifth in the 200, while Patrick Signore scored in the 400 meters.

On the women's side, Cadence Carlson placed eighth in the 60 meters before returning to finish second in the 200 meters (26.50, PR). Avery Wolf, Margaret Carter, and Aimee Koranteng also scored in the event.

In the hurdles, Tirzah Losos led the women with a third-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles, while Ashley Wojciechowski and Katelyn Duber added scoring finishes. Jared Kniola scored for the men in the 60-meter hurdles.


MID-DISTANCE & DISTANCE

The Pioneers continued to pile up points in the middle distances.

Hana Smith earned a victory in the women's 400 meters (1:00.78), followed closely by Rianna Schultz in second. Addison Korte also scored for Carroll.

In the 800 meters, Cameron Lotspeich placed second for the men, while Kyla Laabs led the women with a sixth-place finish. Carroll added additional points in the mile, paced by Sam Daley on the men's side and Sarah Tinder, Paola Orozco, and Abby Burie for the women.


JUMPS

Carroll picked up valuable points in the field events.

Carlos Cadet led the men with a third-place finish in the long jump, while Ethan Zilisch added points in sixth. On the women's side, Margaret Carter placed fifth in the long jump.

In the pole vault, freshman Jenna Weis continued her strong season with a second-place finish, while Ella Ott followed in fifth.


THROWS

Senior Brady Reusser anchored the men's throws, placing second in both the shot put and weight throw. The women's throwers were led by Caroline Plasil, who placed fourth in the weight throw, with Grace Pequignot adding a top-10 finish in the shot put.


RELAYS

Carroll closed the meet with strong relay performances, including a school record in the Women's 4x400 with Tirzah Losos, Cady Carlson, Rianna Schultz, and Hana Smith rounding out the squad.

The men's distance medley relay captured first place, while the women's distance medley relay also earned a victory. Carroll also added more points with runner-up finishes in  the men's 4x400-meter relay.

After another impressive team showing across the board, the Pioneers turn their attention to UW-Oshkosh next Saturday, which will once again be a loaded field and give the team a great measuring stick as the season progresses.
