OSHKOSH, Wis. – The Carroll University men's and women's track and field teams turned in a productive day at the UW-Oshkosh Titan Challenge at Kolf Sports Center, highlighted by multiple event victories, several top-eight finishes, and strong depth across the sprint, middle-distance, jump, and throw groups.
SPRINTS & HURDLES
Carroll's sprinters generated quality marks on both sides, led by strong finishes in the women's 60 and 200 and a fast men's 200/400 group.
On the women's side, Aimee Koranteng advanced to the final in the 60 and placed seventh (8.21), with KaOlyn Gregory finishing eighth (8.26). In the 200, freshman Cadence Carlson posted a fourth-place finish (26.66), while Koranteng (27.09), Addison Korte (27.70), Gregory (28.59), and Blyss McCune (28.82) added solid performances.
The women's 400 also produced multiple Carroll entries, led by Carlson (1:00.41), Rianna Schultz (1:00.79), and Korte (1:02.18).
In the hurdles, Tirzah Losos qualified for the final and finished seventh in the 60 hurdles (9.59). Carroll also had multiple entries in the hurdles prelims, including Ashley Wojciechowski (10.06) and Katelyn Duber (10.07).
On the men's side, Carroll's top 60-dash efforts in prelims included Denim Riley (7.17) and Jerome Sassoe (7.40), while freshman Brian Smith clocked 22.24 in the 200 to lead the Pioneers in the event. Riley (23.05) and a deep Carroll group followed in the 200, and the Pioneers posted a strong set of 400 performances led by Sawyer Caves (52.44) and Connor Tector (52.87). Carroll's Jared Kniola competed in the 60 hurdles (9.28).
MID-DISTANCE & DISTANCE
Carroll put multiple athletes into key middle-distance races, building early-season fitness in the 800 and mile.
For the women, Hana Smith led Carroll in the 800 (2:22.00), with Kyla Laabs close behind (2:25.62) and additional entries from Brooke Davies (2:34.91) and Lucy Beuthin (2:37.40). In the mile, Carroll was paced by Sarah Tinder (5:54.14), followed by Kayla Hirschmann (6:07.27), Mia Kim (6:07.85), Amelia Stein (6:17.71), and Nina Yaras (6:25.19). Carroll also logged two finishes in the 3000 with Paola Orozco (11:43.23) and Abby Burie (11:44.89).
On the men's side, Carroll's 800 group was led by Ethan Weber (1:58.87), followed closely by Luke Adams (1:59.85) and Cameron Lotspeich (2:00.47). In the mile, Carroll placed multiple runners under 4:40, paced by Sam Daley (4:34.23), Julian Bica Harrison (4:36.84), and Bailey Olson (4:37.23), with Donovan Menningen finishing at 4:45.42.
JUMPS
Carroll's jump crews delivered some of the day's biggest highlights, including wins and podium finishes.
On the women's side, freshman Jenna Weis claimed first place in the pole vault with a winning clearance of 12-07.50 (3.85m). Carroll also scored depth in the vault with Ella Ott (9-08.00) and Bella Backus (9-08.00). In the high jump, Clare Whitney posted a strong third-place finish, clearing 5-00.50 (1.54m).
In the horizontal jumps, Carroll placed two athletes in the top eight of the long jump as Ashley Wojciechowski finished seventh (16-08.50 / 5.09m) and Addison Weber took eighth with the same mark. The women's biggest field result came in the triple jump, where Katelyn Duber won the event with a leap of 36-08.25 (11.18m).
For the men, Carroll's top field performance came from Carlos Cadet, who won the triple jump with a standout mark of 48-05.25 (14.76m). Ethan Zilisch also provided points in the high jump, clearing 5-11.25 (1.81m).
THROWS
Carroll's throwers produced multiple top-25 finishes and continued to build momentum early in the season.
On the women's side, Caroline Plasil led the way in the weight throw with a sixth-place finish at 46-01.50 (14.06m). Grace Pequignot added a top-20 weight throw mark (41-03.75 / 12.59m) and also led Carroll in the shot put with a best of 35-06.00 (10.82m).
For the men, Brady Reusser paced Carroll in the shot put, placing sixth with a throw of 52-01.25 (15.88m), and added an 11th-place finish in the weight throw (48-06.75 / 14.80m). Carroll also had multiple contributors in the weight throw, including Dylan Mendro (49-05.75 / 15.08m) and Carter Ruiz (41-00.25 / 12.50m).
RELAYS
Carroll's top track highlight came in the men's 4x400 relay, where the Pioneers captured first place in 3:24.24 with Sawyer Caves, Ethan Weber, Brian Smith, and Connor Tector. Carroll also entered a second relay that ran 3:34.38 in exhibition.
This marks another very successful meet in the early season for Carroll. Their next event will come next weekend Friday and Saturday, as they travel to Bloomington, IL to compete in the CCIW Indoor Championships.
