Box Score WAUKESHA, Wis. – Carroll University women's tennis opened its spring schedule in strong fashion Saturday afternoon, earning a 6–1 nonconference victory over UW–Oshkosh at home.
The Pioneers took control early by winning two of three doubles matches to claim the opening point. At No. 1 doubles, Natasa Pupovac and Katherine Trifilio secured a 6–3 win, while Nawal Souki and Aalaiya Jacklin cruised to a 6–0 victory at No. 2. Carroll also picked up a hard-fought win at No. 3 doubles, where Mia Franke and Gracie Niebler edged out a tiebreak decision, 7–6 (7–4).
Carroll carried that momentum into singles play, claiming five of six matches to seal the overall victory. Natasa Pupovac led the way at No. 1 singles, earning a straight-sets win, 6–3, 6–4. Katherine Trifilio followed with a composed performance at No. 2, while Mia Franke added another point at No. 3 with a straight-set victory.
At No. 4 singles, Nawal Souki delivered one of the most competitive matches of the day, rallying after a first-set tiebreak to win in a 10-point super tiebreak. Carroll also received singles wins from Makayla Counsell at No. 5 and Erin Horzewski at No. 6.
UW–Oshkosh's lone point came in singles play, but Carroll controlled the match from start to finish to open the spring season with a convincing home win.
Carroll's next match will come on their spring break trip, as they travel to Hilton Head, SC with their first match coming against LeTourneau University on March 8th.
