HILTON HEAD, SC - The Carroll men's and women's tennis teams faced Catholic University on Wednesday, with the women's team earning a 6–1 victory while the men narrowly fell 4–3 in a tightly contested matchup.
On the women's side, Carroll set the tone early by sweeping doubles play to take a 3–0 lead. The top pairing of Natasa Pupovac and Katherine Trifilio earned a 6–2 win, while Nawal Souki and Aalaiya Jacklin followed with a 6–1 victory at No. 2 doubles. Carroll added another point at No. 1 singles as Pupovac continued her strong play with a straight-set win. Trifilio battled through a three-set match at No. 2 singles to secure the clinching point, and additional singles wins from Souki, Makayla Counsell, and Gracie Niebler rounded out the decisive team victory.
The men's match came down to the final singles courts, as Carroll pushed Catholic to the wire in a 4–3 decision. Carroll picked up a crucial doubles point at No. 3, where Felix Persson and Layton Carls earned a tiebreak victory. In singles play, Andrew LaBelle rallied to win a three-set match at No. 2 singles, while Ryan LaBelle added a straight-set win at No. 3. Nate Christensen also delivered a strong performance at No. 6 singles with a straight-set victory. Despite Carroll's momentum across the lineup, Catholic was able to edge out the remaining points to secure the match.
Both teams continued to show depth and competitiveness as they progress through spring play, with the women's squad building momentum and the men's team gaining valuable experience in close matches. This concludes their spring break trip, with both teams next matchup coming on March 29 against UW-Stevens Point.
