Carroll Baseball Falls to Nebraska Wesleyan in Florida

PENSACOLA, Fla. — The Carroll baseball team dropped a 7–4 decision to Nebraska Wesleyan on Saturday afternoon at Blue Wahoos Stadium.

Nebraska Wesleyan capitalized early, scoring single runs in the first two innings before breaking the game open with a five-run third inning to take a 7–0 advantage. Carroll settled in defensively following the big frame, as the Pioneer pitching staff limited Nebraska Wesleyan over the final five innings.

Carroll got on the board in the fifth inning with a three-run rally. Dalen Lamberson delivered an RBI single to score Joey Appino, and Jimmy Williams followed with a two-run home run to left field to cut the deficit to four.

The Pioneers continued to apply pressure late, adding a run in the eighth inning. Brody Ferko drew a bases-loaded walk to bring home Ross Olsen, trimming the margin to 7–4.

Carroll finished the game with eight hits and 10 walks, consistently creating scoring opportunities but leaving runners on base throughout the contest.

On the mound, Erik Jaschinski worked five innings in the start, while the Carroll bullpen combined to hold Nebraska Wesleyan scoreless over the final three frames. Joey Rivera, Noah Meyer, and Isaac Verbruggen all contributed out of the bullpen as the Pioneers kept the game within reach.

Carroll continues its spring schedule in Florida as the Pioneers look to build on the late-game momentum moving forward, with their last game of the trip coming tomorrow against UW-Whitewater.
