DUBUQUE, Iowa — The Carroll men's lacrosse team dropped a 12–8 road decision at Dubuque on Saturday afternoon at Oyen Field.
Dubuque built early momentum, scoring four goals in the opening quarter to take control. Carroll answered late in the first period as Ethan Phillips found the net, but the Spartans extended their lead through the second quarter to carry a 7–3 advantage into halftime.
Carroll continued to battle in the second half, generating consistent offensive pressure and outshooting Dubuque 54–36 in the contest. Phillips led the Pioneers with two goals, while Brady Conwell added two goals and two assists. Brady Mollsen chipped in one goal and two assists, and Luke Bridges scored on a man-up opportunity.
The Pioneers made multiple pushes in the third and fourth quarters, scoring three times in the final period, including extra-man goals from Zach Szuba and Roman DeAngelis. However, Dubuque was able to answer each run and maintain its advantage down the stretch.
In goal, Jake Gehl recorded 12 saves, facing a heavy shot volume as Carroll kept the pressure on throughout the afternoon.
Carroll continues its schedule as the Pioneers look to build on their offensive production and compete in conference play moving forward. Their next game comes next Saturday to return to Schneider Stadium for another nonconference tilt against Hope.
