WAUKESHA, Wis. — The Carroll University men's lacrosse team was unable to overcome a strong offensive performance from Hope College, falling 23–7 on Friday afternoon at home.
Carroll struck first in the opening quarter, as Brady Mollsen scored off an assist from Brady Conwell to give the Pioneers an early lead. Anthony DeFilippis added another goal shortly after as Carroll jumped out to a 2–0 advantage.
Hope responded with an extended scoring run late in the first quarter, netting six consecutive goals to take control of the game. The Flying Dutchmen continued to apply pressure in the second quarter, building a 14–5 halftime lead.
Brady Mollsen paced the Carroll offense with four goals, while Aiden Klick finished with one goal and one assist. Jake Kapocis and Anthony DeFilippis also found the back of the net for the Pioneers.
Carroll continued to battle in the second half, adding goals from Mollsen and Kapocis, but Hope's depth and efficiency proved difficult to slow as the visitors extended their lead throughout the third and fourth quarters.
Defensively, Carroll faced sustained pressure, with Hope holding advantages in shots and faceoffs. In goal, Jake Gehl recorded 15 saves, working through heavy volume as Hope generated 57 shots in the contest.
Despite the result, Carroll showed resilience throughout the contest, continuing to compete on both ends of the field until the final whistle.
Carroll will look to regroup and build off the early scoring positives as the Pioneers continue their season. Their next matchup comes next Saturday as they host Kalamazoo once again at Schneider Stadium at 1pm.
