WAUKESHA, Wis. — The Carroll University women's lacrosse team continued its unbeaten start to the season on Friday morning, defeating Saint Benedict 17–7 at home to improve to 8–0 on the year.
Carroll struck early and often, scoring the game's first three goals and building a 5–4 lead at the end of the first quarter before pulling away over the final three periods. The Pioneers outscored Saint Benedict 12–3 after the opening quarter, using balanced offensive production and strong possession play to take control.
Paige Helms led all scorers with a standout performance, finishing with five goals and two assists for seven points. Sierra Skack added three goals and three assists, while Elaina Phaneuf contributed two goals and one assist as Carroll continued to spread production throughout its lineup.
Carroll extended its lead in the second quarter, scoring five goals to take a 10–5 halftime advantage. Elizabeth Wang scored twice in the period, while goals from Helms and Rebecca Hallman helped the Pioneers create separation.
The Pioneers continued to build momentum in the third quarter, adding five more goals, including tallies from Lauren Fricke, Phaneuf, Skack, and Helms. Carroll also capitalized on free-position opportunities, converting three free-position goals in the contest.
Defensively, Carroll limited Saint Benedict to just seven goals, forcing turnovers and controlling ground balls. The Pioneers held a 26–21 edge in ground balls and won 12 draw controls, helping maintain possession throughout the game.
In goal, Devon Duym earned the victory, making eight saves while anchoring the defense for the full 60 minutes.
With the win, Carroll remained undefeated and continued its strong early-season run, combining offensive depth, disciplined defense, and steady play in the cage.Their next matchup comes on Monday, when they host Lake Forest at 7pm.
