WAUKESHA, Wis. — The Carroll University men's lacrosse team fell to Illinois Wesleyan, 25–5, on Friday afternoon in CCIW action at Waukesha.
Illinois Wesleyan jumped out quickly, scoring 11 goals in the opening quarter and adding eight more in the second to build a 19–1 halftime lead. The Titans continued to control possession and tempo throughout the contest, finishing with a significant advantage in shots (62–32) and faceoffs (18–11).
Carroll's offense was led by Brady Mollsen, who recorded a team-high three goals, including a pair late in the game. Jack McNamara and Brady Conwell also found the back of the net for the Pioneers, with Conwell adding an assist in the contest.
Illinois Wesleyan maintained pressure in the second half, scoring four goals in the third quarter and two more in the fourth. Carroll continued to compete defensively and created scoring chances late, closing the game with two goals in the final minute.
In goal, Jake Gehl made 13 saves while facing heavy pressure, playing the full 60 minutes in net for the Pioneers.
Carroll will look to regroup and continue conference play as it moves forward through the remainder of the spring schedule, with their next chance coming next Saturday back at Schneider Stadium for senior day at 4pm.
