WAUKESHA, Wis. — The Carroll University men's tennis team faced a challenging test on Monday afternoon, falling 7–0 to a strong Carthage squad in CCIW play in Waukesha.
Carroll competed closely in doubles play, earning a win at No. 1 doubles, where Felix Persson and Andrew LaBelle posted a 6–3 victory. Despite the early success, Carthage claimed the remaining doubles matches to secure the opening point.
In singles play, Carroll matched up against one of the top lineups in the conference, with Carthage earning wins across all six positions. The Pioneers continued to battle throughout the lineup, including competitive sets at No. 3 singles from Felix Persson and at No. 6 singles from Layton Carls, who pushed his match to tight games in both sets.
Although the final score reflected the depth and experience of the Carthage lineup, Carroll gained valuable experience competing against one of the league's top programs. The Pioneers will turn their attention to the CCIW tournament which will take place starting Thursday, April 30th in Bloomington, IL.
