Box Score MEQUON, Wis. – The Carroll University women's tennis team opened its 2026-27 season on Tuesday afternoon, dropping a tightly contested 4-3 decision to Concordia Wisconsin.
The Falcons claimed the doubles point with victories at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles, while Carroll's tandem of Megan Trifilio and Madison Siminski earned a 6-3 win at No. 3 doubles.
The Pioneers battled back in singles play, splitting the six matches. Megan Trifilio and Gracie Niebler each picked up straight-set victories for Carroll. Trifilio earned a 6-3, 6-3 win at No. 3 singles, while Niebler secured a 6-4, 6-4 victory at No. 5 singles.
Madison Siminski added Carroll's third point in dramatic fashion at No. 6 singles. After winning the opening set 6-2, Siminski dropped the second set 6-1 before responding with a 10-6 victory in the match tiebreak.
The match ultimately came down to several tightly contested courts. At No. 4 singles, Mia Franke pushed Abigail Haley to the limit before falling 7-6 (7-2), 6-4. Natasa Pupovac and Katherine Trifilio also battled hard at the top of the lineup but were unable to overcome Concordia Wisconsin in straight sets.
Carroll will look to build on the strong individual performances as the Pioneers continue their fall campaign on Saturday as they host North Central in a conference matchup at 10am.
