WAUKESHA, Wis. – The Carroll University women's tennis team earned a landmark victory Saturday afternoon, defeating North Central College 5-2 at home for the program's first win over the Cardinals since 2017. The Pioneers swept all three doubles matches and added four singles victories to secure one of the program's biggest wins in recent years. 

Carroll seized momentum from the start by dominating doubles play. Natasa Pupovac and Katherine Trifilio earned a 6-1 victory at No. 1 doubles, while Mia Franke and Gracie Niebler followed with a 6-3 win at No. 2. Madison Siminski and Megan Trifilio capped the sweep with a commanding 6-0 victory at No. 3 doubles, giving the Pioneers an early advantage heading into singles competition.

The Pioneers continued their strong play in singles, highlighted by a pair of comeback victories at the top of the lineup. At No. 1 singles, Pupovac battled through three sets to defeat Berkley Klarich 7-5, 2-6, 10-5. Katherine Trifilio matched that effort at No. 2 singles, rallying from a first-set deficit to earn a 1-6, 7-6, 6-3 victory.

Carroll also received dominant performances from the bottom half of the lineup. Megan Trifilio cruised to a 6-0, 6-2 victory at No. 3 singles, while Siminski secured a straight-set 6-2, 7-5 win at No. 6. North Central's lone singles points came at Nos. 4 and 5, but the Cardinals were unable to overcome Carroll's doubles sweep and depth throughout the lineup. 

The victory marks Carroll's first win over North Central since 2017 and serves as an early-season statement for a Pioneer squad looking to build momentum in 2026. Their next matchup comes on September 13th when they return home for another CCIW bout against Carthage at 10am.
