(Waukesha, Wis.) - Beyond Sports Network has tabbed Carroll University's Lamont Williams as an NCAA Division III preseason All-American football player.
Williams earned first team All-Midwest Conference and third team All-West Region (D3football.com) honors a year ago while leading the Pioneers to their first 8-win season (8-2) since 1992.
Despite missing the season-opener, Williams quickly established himself as the league's premier running back. The junior from Philadelphia amassed 1,267 yards on 197 rushing attempts. Williams averaged 6.4 yards per carry and recorded 24 rushing touchdowns, a new Carroll single-season record. In the season finale against Illinois College, he set new single-game records for yards (305) and rushing touchdowns (6).
The Pioneers open the 2013 season on Sept. 7 at Lakeland College. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
