Box Score (Waukesha, Wis.) – The Carroll University women's basketball team once again stood toe-to-toe with the Midwest Conference's best before falling to co-league leading St. Norbert College, 62-58. The loss comes three days after the Pioneers took the other co-leaders, Cornell College, to double-overtime before falling 92-90.
Carroll jumped out to an early lead and held a five point advantage with just over eight minutes remaining in the opening half before the Green Knights took over and battled their way to five point lead at 2:12. The Pioneers responded again and evened the score at 22-22 at halftime.
Carroll blasted its way to a five-point lead early in the second half and had the Green Knights shaken. The perennial powerhouse battled back once again and the two teams exchanged leads several times midway through the final 20 minutes.
St. Norbert grabbed the lead for good with 7:29 remaining in the game but several times Carroll pulled to within one point. With 3:53 to play the Green Knights extended their lead to eight points and appeared ready to cruise to the victory. Carroll again fought back and closed to within one point with just under a minute to play before St. Norbert closed out the game on a 3-0 run.
Emily DeNoyer led Carroll with 17 points but was the only Pioneers to reach double figure in scorings. The Pioneers entered the game with four players averaging double-digits.
