Pioneers gain experience against Whitewater

Waukesha, Wis.-

The men's and women's swimming and diving teams hosted UW-Whitewater on Friday, November 3. The Pioneers lost in both divisions (men's and women's), but gained valuable experience that they will use as the young season pushes into the winter months.

The women were led by Lindsey Coons who secured two first place finishes for the Pioneers. Coons took first in the 100 yard butterfly with a time of 1:03.80 and the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 1:00.71.

Jordan Andrews and Amanda Klaeser also swam well for the Pioneers, with both ladies picking up a pair of second place finishes in the freestyle races.. Andrews took second in the 50 yard (25.74) and 100 yard (58.12) freestyles, while Klaeser secured second in the longer freestyles, the 1,000 yard (11:37.79) and 500 yard (5:34.32) races.

Kaitlin Squier picked up the women's other individual top two finish, by finishing second in the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 1:10.38.

The men were led by Aaron Talabac and Tyler Fencl, with both swimmers locking up a third place finish in their respective races. Talabac finished third in the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 58.37, while Fencl grabbed third in the 200 yard IM with a time of 2:21.82.

The Pioneers will be back in action today, November 4, as they travel to Lake Forest College for a meet at 1 pm.
