The Pioneers competed in the Carthage Classic, a three day meet that featured 10 teams from the surrounding area. The women finished in fifth place with 1,072 points while the men took fifth place with 594 points. The Pioneers were led by
Kaitlin Squier who finished with the fourth most points (123)Â in the women division, while also breaking a school record.
James Kelly led the men, finishing with 93 points, good for 14
th out 134 swimmers.
Squier broke the school record for the 100 yd IM, finishing with a time of 1:02.7, good for third place. Squier also took second in the 200 yd IM (2:15.24), the 200 yd breaststroke (2:29.64), and the 100 yd breaststroke (1:07.86).
The women's 400 yd medley relay was also a solid event for the Pioneers , as they took seventh with a time of 4:10.65. The relay consisted of
Jordan Andrews, Squier,
Marissa Stacy and
Lindsey Coons.
The women's 200 yd free and medley relays were also bright spots for the Pioneers, with the ladies taking sixth and fourth respectively. In the free relay, the Pioneers finished with a time of 1:44.27, and was swam by
Rowan Liederbach,
Maggie Fiekes,
Sally Bowman and Andrews. The medley relay finished with a time of 1:54.17 and was swam by
Erin Pasachke, Squier, Stacy and Liederbach.
Ally Osell continued her outstanding freshman season, taking first in the one meter dive with a score of 416.00, as well as the three meter dive with a score of 427.25.
James Kelly led the men by placing fourth in the 50 yd freestyle with a time of 21.61. Kelly also swam well in the 100 yd IM, finishing in seventh place with a time of 56.25.
THe Pioneers will be back in action on January 20 as they host IIT on senior night.
